Due to heavy rains, there were several incidents for the fire department and police in Sachsen-Anhalt on Sunday evening and at night. The railway line between Uelzen and Magdeburg was also affected by the storm. In the northern part of Sachsen-Anhalt, in the city of Genthin (Jerichower Land), several cellars and underground garages were flooded with rainwater, according to the rescue coordination center. In addition, some roads were flooded and blocked by uprooted trees and fallen branches.

Already in the late afternoon on Sunday, train traffic in northern Sachsen-Anhalt was affected by a thunderstorm. A tree fell on the tracks on the railway line between Uelzen and Magdeburg, leading to disruptions. According to a railway spokesperson, the section was closed for one and a half hours. There were partial failures and delays. The tree fell between Soltendieck and Schnega onto the tracks.

In the Altmark, in Neukirchen and Dahrendorf, uprooted trees were reported to the rescue coordination center. The county road 2354 between Rottleberode and Stolberg was closed for three hours due to mud on the road, according to the police.

According to the rescue coordination centers, no persons were injured.

  6. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the local authorities and emergency services worked tirelessly to restore normalcy and safety in the region.
