neighborhood dispute escalates - Life sentence for triple murder of neighbors demanded
In the case of the shooting of three people in a multi-family house in Swabia, the prosecutor has demanded life imprisonment for the accused gunman. Prosecutor Thomas Junggeburth requested before the Augsburg Regional Court a conviction for triple murder and double attempted murder. According to his conviction, the 65-year-old defendant wanted to end a lengthy neighborhood dispute definitively with his "frigid approach."
Junggeburth did not see a restricted capacity to commit a crime. He also requested that the Criminal Chamber in the judgment establish the aggravating circumstances. In this case, the release of the German citizen after already serving 15 years in prison would be significantly hindered. The defender and the two co-defense attorneys were also scheduled to present their pleas today. The judgment in this trial is planned for coming Thursday.
Years of dispute over trash and other trivial matters
The accused and his neighbors were constantly arguing over trivialities such as trash cans in the house in Langweid. They insulted each other. The trigger for the bloodshed was reportedly a neighbor calling the police after such a quarrel. According to the prosecution, the perpetrator had planned the murder of his neighbors after learning of the police call. He then allegedly ambushed an elderly couple in the stairwell and shot the 49 and 52-year-old victims in the head.
Only a few seconds later, he reportedly shot a 72-year-old neighbor through her door in the head. According to the prosecution, the perpetrator had speculated that the senior would look through the peephole of her apartment due to the previous shots and had shot accordingly. Afterward, he allegedly drove to relatives of the slain pensioners and injured them with shots through a door.
The accused in this case hails from the Swabian region of Bavaria, specifically the neighborhood of Langweid. The tragic incident occurred in a multi-family house within this neighborhood. The Criminality in this case is grave, as outlined by the Prosecutor's Office, which has accused the defendant of a triple homicide and two attempted murders. The ensuing trial is being held in the Augsburg Regional Court.
