Football-Bundesliga - Leipzig lets top talent Novoa move to Spain

Football-Bundesligist RB Leipzig has finally let go of former top prospect Hugo Novoa to Spain. The 21-year-old striker, who is still the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer in RB Leipzig's history, has secured a permanent move to Deportivo Alaves. Previously, Novoa could not establish himself at Leipzig and had been frequently loaned out.

Novoa played for FC Villarreal in the second half of the previous season but only appeared for their second team. Before that, he had loan spells at FC Basel and FC Utrecht.

In Leipzig, Novoa was once seen as a big talent. In October 2021, at the age of 18 years, eight months, and 29 days, he broke Leipzig Bundesliga scoring history against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Novoa replaced German national team player Joshua Kimmich as the youngest Leipzig Bundesliga goalscorer, a record Kimmich held before his transfer to FC Bayern Munich.
