traffic - Landkreis Harz introduces Germanyticket in school transport
The Landkreis Harz is introducing the Germany Ticket in school transportation as the next district in Saxony-Anhalt. From August, the Germany Ticket will replace the previous student ID, Landrat Thomas Balcerowski (CDU) announced. Approximately 6,500 girls and boys in grades 1 to 10 will benefit from this. A significant advantage is the year-round use, including holidays, according to the Landrat. Students in the upper classes of grammar schools and vocational schools can also use the Germany Ticket.
Last school year, other districts had already replaced the previous student IDs with the Germany Ticket or offered the option to pay a surcharge at lower costs for the Germany Ticket. This applied, for example, in the Salzlandkreis, Jerichower Land, Landkreis Börde, Saalekreis, or Burgenlandkreis.
The CDU-led Landkreis Harz is following suit, as districts like Salzlandkreis and Saalekreis have, by implementing the Germany Ticket in Saxony-Anhalt's school transportation system. This switch in August will affect around 6,500 students in Harz District, extending the ticket's use to holidays as well. Besides students in primary and secondary schools, those in upper classes of grammar schools and vocational schools in Harz District can also utilize the Germany Ticket.
