Four people have been injured at a house fire in Abtsgmünd (Ostalbkreis) - among them a firefighter. The fire broke out inexplicably in the night in the kitchen on the ground floor, according to a police spokesperson. The fire department rescued one person from the first upper floor over the balcony. In total, three people suffered from mild smoke inhalation.
A firefighter also sustained minor injuries to his leg, it was reported. The damage is estimated to be around 200,000 Euros based on initial assessments. The house is currently uninhabitable. Further details were not available at first.
The injured firefighter was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The fire department was called from Baden-Württemberg due to the severity of the house fire. To prevent further spread of the fire, the neighborhood was advised to evacuate temporarily.
