Widensports - Kathleen Friedrich new President of SC Potsdam
The former German athletics champion Kathleen Friedrich is the new President of SC Potsdam. According to the biggest sports club in Brandenburg's announcement, the 47-year-old was determined as the chairperson during the constituent meeting of the presidium. Uwe Freimuth and Jens Lehmphul are her vice-presidents.
"I want to bring the sports, social, and societal orientation of SC Potsdam back into the foreground. On the one hand, my experiences and values that I have gained myself in performance sports help me, and on the other hand, the entrepreneurial thinking from my self-employment as a photographer," Friedrich was quoted in a statement from the club on Friday.
Five-time German champion over 1,500 meters
Friedrich succeeds Andreas Klemund, who stepped down in the spring due to turbulence in the leadership of the women's volleyball Bundesligist. Friedrich, who became five-time German champion over 1,500 meters from 2000 to 2004, leads a nine-member presidium.
