Festival Director - Katharina Wagner: Could experience a wonderful evening
Festival Director Katharina Wagner is pleased with the start of her world-renowned festival in Bayreuth. "We were able to experience a wonderful evening," she said after the premiere of the new production of "Tristan and Isolde." She particularly wanted to thank the artists.
Wagner appeared at the traditional state reception after the premiere alongside the protagonists of the production: Director Thorleifur Oern Arnarsson, Conductor Semyon Bychkov, Andreas Schager as Tristan, and Olafur Sigurdarson as Kurwenal.
Furthermore, she expressed her gratitude to the state for the financing commitment to renovate the Festival House. This will ensure the operation of the house. Berlin and Munich each plan to contribute approximately 85 million Euros.
