Federal Military - Jumped into cold water - Skydivers practice emergency landing
More than 70 paratroopers of the Bundeswehr trained jumping into water at Kochel am See in Oberbayern. "We practice emergency water landing procedure", said the press speaker of the Luftlande-/Lufttransportschule Altenstadt. This involves releasing oneself from the harness of the parachute - failing to do so, the soldier could drown. The soldiers jumped from over 400 meters above ground level into an Airbus A400M and landed in the Kochelsee, where they were rescued by boats.
The Landratsamt Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen had been informed about the training and possible disruptions.
Further training is also scheduled for Wednesday. This is annual training, said the spokesperson. In Altenstadt, paratroopers and transport pilots are comprehensively taught.
The training site in Altenstadt, located in Upper Bavaria, is part of the Defense's Federal Military. The old town of Altenstadt, with its historical charm, provides a unique backdrop for the paratroopers' training. On Wednesday, Defence will conduct another round of training, focusing on emergency landings, including water landings like the one at Kochel am See in Bavaria. After their rigorous training, the paratroopers often visit local attractions, such as the picturesque Old Town in Bad Toelz-Wolfratshausen.
