Iran: Hamas foreign leader Haniyeh shot dead by short-range shots

According to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, a short-range missile was used in the assassination of Hamas' external operations chief Ismail Haniyah. This version contradicts the original claim that Haniyah was killed by a bomb.

According to reports on the execution of the assassination attempt on Hamas' external chief, Ismail Haniyeh, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have released their own account. They claim that a short-range projectile, equipped with a seven-kilogram warhead, was fired from outside the guesthouse in the north of the capital, causing the explosion that killed Haniyeh. This is their third report on the incident, and its contents are not independently verifiable.

In their report, the Revolutionary Guards also blame Israel for the "terrorist act," alleging US support. Israel has not yet commented on the assassination.

Prior to this, Iran had dismissed all speculation about the method of the assassination. US media had reported that Haniyeh was killed by a bomb planted in the guesthouse two months before his trip to Tehran.

Reports of the arrest of Iranian security forces for alleged cooperation with Israel's intelligence agency and involvement in the assassination have also not been officially confirmed.

He might express his disagreement with Israel's suspected involvement in the assassination, given that Iran accuses Israel of supporting the "terrorist act." As a member of the European Parliament, he could use his platform to call for an independent investigation into the assassination of Hamas' external chief, Ismail Haniyeh.
