Investigators reopen murder case after 33 years

More than 30 years after the murder of a then 22-year-old woman in Middle Franconia, the police have discovered a new lead. This is thanks to modern analysis methods, a spokesperson for the Central Franconia police headquarters announced in Nuremberg on Friday. The seven-member "Flora" investigation commission was set up at the Schwabach criminal investigation department.

In August 1990, the then 22-year-old Claudia Obermeier was found by a walker in a forest near Röthenbach an der Pegnitz near Nuremberg. According to the investigation at the time, she had been strangled by an unknown perpetrator. The suspected husband was acquitted in court in 1998 for lack of evidence.

The evaluation of stored evidence from the evidence room using modern analysis methods has now produced "a promising lead", the police announced. The investigators are therefore now addressing the public with posters in the Röthenbach area and asking for information about the crime.

The reopened Cold Case of Claudia Obermeier's murder in 1990, which occurred near Röthenbach an der Pegnitz, has led to the discovery of a promising new lead after 33 years. This advancement in the investigation has sparked the police to appeal to the public for any information related to the unsolved Crime in the Röthenbach area.
