Fire in guesthouse - Investigations into possible arson against Tunisians

After a fire in a Guesthouse, the police are investigating a attempted murder case and cannot rule out a hate crime background. Two men, aged 55 and 59, were injured during the fire in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg-District on Monday. In the course of extensive investigations and forensic examinations, evidence of premeditated arson has emerged, according to the Police and Prosecutor's Office Bonn. A murder commission has taken over the investigation. Since a hate crime background cannot be ruled out, the Bonn Police State Protection is also involved in the investigation, as further stated. So far, there are no suspects.

The two Tunisian citizens had slept in the upper floor of the building and were woken up by loud noises. According to their statements, the fire had already spread to such an extent at that time that leaving the guesthouse through the ground floor was no longer possible. Therefore, they jumped out of the window into a paper container, resulting in injuries. The two Men were taken to nearby hospitals in rescue vehicles.

  1. The police's determination to solve the case of the complicated arson incident at the guest house in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid has not waned, despite the absence of suspects.
  2. The incident, classified as attempted homicide, has raised concerns about criminality based on hate crime in North Rhine-Westphalia's Rhineland-Sieg District.
  3. In Bonn, authorities are coordinating their efforts in the investigation, including the fire department, police, prosecutor's office, and police state protection, demonstrating an united front against criminality.
  4. The men, who have been treated at hospitals in Bonn for injuries sustained during their escape, have provided valuable information that the investigation team is analyzing meticulously.
  5. Despite the challenging nature of the case, the authorities remain hopeful that the spirit of determination and cooperation will bring the perpetrators to justice, ensuring the safety of the community in Bonn and beyond.
