The gross income of socially insured full-time employees in the capital city has significantly increased in the past years. The median income was nearly 4000 Euro before taxes and deductions, according to data from the Federal Employment Agency. Median means that an equal number of people earned more than this amount and an equal number earned less.

In the federal states comparison, Berlin ranked fourth. Nationwide, the median was nearly 3800 Euro gross.

Since 2019, the wages for full-time employees in the capital city have risen every year. The central value was still around 3400 Euro at that time.

The increase in gross income for full-time employees in Berlin has led to an improved living standard, allowing them to boast one of the highest median incomes among German federal states. Despite Berlin's full-time employees having a higher gross income compared to the national median, their gross income, at around 4000 Euro before taxes and deductions, falls short of their counterparts in the top-ranking city.
