Weather forecast - In Hessen, heat is followed by rain and thunder

In Hesse, temperatures are expected to reach up to 34 Degrees Celsius today. Already by midday, the beautiful weather had attracted over 5,000 people to the Flower Festival in the Bad Nauheimer district of Steinfurt. This place, known as Rosendorf, is celebrating its 48th Rosenfest until Sunday.

According to the organizers, the long tradition of rose cultivation in Steinfurt should be highlighted with the festival. Families have been growing roses there for over 150 years. Steinfurth refers to itself as Germany's oldest rose village.

Drink plenty and keep the body cool

To reduce the strain of the heat on the body, the German Weather Service (DWD) recommends avoiding direct sunlight, strenuous activities, and alcohol, while also drinking enough. A cool bath or shower, light and breathable clothing, and a head covering can also help keep the body cool.

On Sunday, meteorologists from the DWD expect sweltering heat in Hesse, with temperatures between 27 and 30 Degrees Celsius. People should prepare for showers and occasionally strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. Local areas are likely to experience heavy rain from the thunderstorms, according to the DWD. Showers and some thunderstorms are also expected at night, which should subside by morning.

A slight cooling at the start of the week

The new week begins with maximum temperatures of 24 to 27 Degrees Celsius and occasional showers. On Monday, the DWD anticipates mostly dry weather in the second half of the day with a mix of sun and clouds. The night to Tuesday is expected to remain dry, with temperatures dropping to 14 to 11 Degrees Celsius.

Mostly cloudy on Tuesday in Hesse. Rain showers with thunder are expected to move from northwest to southeast. In thunderstorms, strong to stormy gusts are possible, according to the DWD. The highest temperatures are expected to be between 24 and 26 Degrees Celsius.

In Bad Nauheim, the leisurely atmosphere during the Rosenfest on Sunday might be disrupted by the weather forecast of frequent showers and potential thunderstorms. Despite the heat in Offenbach, Germany, the approach of the thunderstorms might encourage some festival-goers to seek shelter. After the heavy rain from the thunderstorms on Tuesday night, the weather in Steinfurt might be ideal for rose cultivation on Wednesday, as temperatures are expected to decrease slightly.
