Mobility Turn - IG Metall concerns itself with the restructuring of the automobile industry
The IG Metall will propose a state-funded program for the transformation of the mobility economy in Bavaria. Currently, the union sees the successful change threatened, as it announced. "Many companies are deciding, due to short-term profit interest, to develop and manufacture their future products at foreign locations. This endangers the successful transformation of the automotive and supplier industry on site," said IG Metall-District Leader Horst Ott. "We now expect the Bavarian State Government to counteract this threatening trend with a funding program."
The union sees several focus areas, including the promotion of qualification and innovation. In addition, the expansion of infrastructure and application-oriented research should be encouraged.
"We need more efforts for our common goal, securing complete value creation chains from development, production, and sales in Bavaria," said Ott and warned: "If we fail to achieve this, our industrial base could erode."
