ICE line between Cologne and Frankfurt closed for a week
The ICE route between Cologne and Frankfurt is closed for a week due to construction work. The work began as planned on Saturday morning, said a railroad spokeswoman. "The adjustment has worked well so far."
Trains are being rerouted via the Rhine Valley, with stops in Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur and Limburg Süd being canceled. Buses are being used as replacement services, and travelers can also use local transport from Siegburg/Bonn in the direction of Cologne and from Limburg in the direction of Frankfurt/Airport.
During the construction work, tracks and points will be renewed. ICE trains are not scheduled to run on the line again until next Saturday morning (December 2). Up-to-date travel information is available in the DB app and on the website bahn.de.
Due to the railroad closure between Cologne and Frankfurt, traffic on alternative routes like the Rhine Valley is experiencing increased traffic. Travelers from Siegburg/Bonn to Cologne and Limburg to Frankfurt/Airport should consider using local buses as replacement services.
Despite the closure, passengers can still reach their destinations by utilizing railroad alternatives, such as using buses in Frankfurt and Cologne during this week-long traffic disruption on the Frankfurt-Cologne railroad.
