Transport traffic - Holiday traffic causes kilometers-long jams

The traffic causes full roads in Lower Saxony and Bremen. On the A7 towards Hamburg, traffic came to a standstill between the interchange Walsrode and the exit Soltau-East, according to ADAC, as early as the morning, spanning a length of 16 kilometers. Further north, cars and trucks were stuck between the exit Seevetal-Ramelsloh and the exit Egestorf in direction of Hannover, covering a distance of seven kilometers. On the A2 towards Dortmund, motorists lost approximately one hour due to a traffic jam between the interchanges Bad Nenndorf and Bad Eilsen-East.

ADAC warned in advance of one of the worst weekend traffic jams of the season for motorists. Over the entire weekend, holidaymakers are expected. In addition, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria are starting the last two federal states into the summer holidays. According to ADAC, it can always get tight in larger cities such as Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover and Osnabrück.

The increased tourism during the summer holidays contributes to heavy traffic in cities like Bremen. The A2 towards Dortmund isn't an exception, with motorists facing delays due to traffic jams. To avoid such issues, ADAC suggests utilizing alternative transportation methods, such as trains, during peak travel periods. The Automatic toll collection system on German highways, like the A7 and A2, facilitates smoother journey flow for vehicles, reducing congestion in some areas. Despite the traffic challenges, Lower Saxony and Bremen remain popular destinations for tourists, offering a wealth of attractions.
