soccer - Hertha's new hiring: 'New family found'
Michael Cuisance has found a new home at Hertha BSC. "I have a great feeling here. The club has high goals – just like I do. I want to gradually move towards the Bundesliga again, and Hertha was the perfect decision," said the new midfielder of the second-tier football club in a press conference on the sidelines of the training camp in Austria, Walchsee. "It doesn't get any better than this. I feel at home here and have found a new family."
After his first professional stints at Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich, Cuisance's career took detours through Marseille and Venice before he joined VfL Osnabrück last season. "I found myself again there. I'm a fighter now," said the 24-year-old, who has made significant changes for success and has been working with a private mental and athletic coach for some time. "This is a new chapter. I want to be the best version of myself."
In terms of load management, Cuisance recently played a bit less, but he feels "fully fit" and more and more prepared for the upcoming tasks – just like his team. "The team has worked well. We're ready for all opponents," said the versatile midfielder, who stood out in training with his standards.
"Can't wait"
The born Frenchman looks forward to the league opener against SC Paderborn on August 3 (13.00 CET). "I can't wait to take to the Olympiastadion pitch and see the fans," said Cuisance. "It's a very strong second league with many big clubs. And the atmosphere in the stadiums every week makes it even better."
Before it's about points, Hertha will first face a double header on Thursday against Huddersfield Town (14.00 CET) and Cardiff City (18.00 CET).
Michael Cuisance expressed his excitement about joining Hertha BSC Berlin, stating that he feels at home at the second-tier football club in Germany. His career has taken him to various clubs, including Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern Munich, before his stint with VfL Osnabrück last season. Cuisance, now 24, is looking forward to starting a new chapter in Berlin, aiming to be the best version of himself. The team is prepared for the upcoming challenges, with Cuisance standing out in training camps like the one recently held in Walchsee, Austria. Before the league opener against SC Paderborn on August 3, Hertha BSC will face Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City in a double header.
