Hertha-Trainer Cristian Fiel wants to continue working on the mindset of his footballers until the second league start. "It's about awareness," said the 44-year-old, who saw two unnecessary losses in the double test in Austria against English club Huddersfield Town (1:2) and the Welsh team from Cardiff City (1:1). "That was frustrating. There were often opportunities to turn the game around. And then the goal against us goes in. You have to get in their heads."

Two main insights could the native Swabian take away from this: "On the one hand, we've seen that the boys have worked well. In the end, there was nothing left in the tank," said Fiel, who also hopes that his men will be able to cope better in one-on-one situations if they have fresher legs. "You have to assert yourself," he demanded.

There are also approaches in defense. Against Cardiff, the equalizing goal came late and as a result of a set piece, against Huddersfield the first goal came from a corner. "These were simple errors in situations where the opponent had time to prepare," explained Fiel, who wants to see more readiness and consequence from his team until the end.

Provisional starting line-up for Paderborn

"It's about getting three points in every game and every test. We will work on that," said the trainer, who did not want to look too much into the line-up for the league opener against SC Paderborn on August 3 (13.00 Uhr/Sky) yet. "But a few who were there in the second game will surely be there again."

After a regeneration day, Berliners will travel home on Saturday. On Sunday, the club invites to the opening ceremony in the Olympiapark.

  1. Despite the frustrating results against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City in Austria, Hertha BSC's trainer, Christian Feil, believes that his team has shown promising signs.
  2. Hertha BSC's players worked hard in their double test in Austria, but the lack of mental focus resulted in two unnecessary losses.
  3. Against Cardiff City, Hertha BSC conceded an equalizing goal late in the match due to a set piece, while against Huddersfield, the first goal was scored from a corner.
  4. Christian Feil wants his team to show more readiness and consequence in crucial moments, particularly in one-on-one situations, to prevent such errors.
  5. Following a regeneration day, Hertha BSC will return to Berlin on Saturday, and on Sunday, the club will host an opening ceremony in the Olympiapark.
  6. Christian Feil is focusing on securing three points in every game and test, and he expects some players who performed well in the second game against Huddersfield to feature in the league opener against SC Paderborn.
