Football-Second League team Hertha BSC has moved its base to Walchsee, Austria. The nine-day training camp is where trainer Cristian Fiel intends to give his team the final polish. "Part of it will be pressing," the 44-year-old quoted in a club statement. "Due to the numerous test matches, we haven't had much time for it yet. We will definitely focus on the ball."

After a brief, internal test match on their home training ground, the Berliners left for Tirol on Thursday afternoon with three goalkeepers and 25 field players. Traveling with them are the three new signings Michael Cuisance, Kevin Sessa, and Diego Demme, as well as youth players Boris Lum and Oliver Rölke. Fabian Reese, a key player, did not travel due to a knee ligament injury. Agustin Rogel, Bradley Ibrahim, and Bilal Hussein were also absent.

Training camp and league opener

The schedule includes various team-building activities and three test matches. The first one is against the Dutch first division team NEC Nijmegen on Saturday (4:00 PM). On July 25, the encounters against the English third division team Huddersfield Town (2:00 PM) and Second League team Cardiff City (6:00 PM) follow. A few days after returning, the league opener against SC Paderborn on August 3 (1:00 PM) will take place.

According to the new DFL schedule, two Saturday matches follow the previously scheduled encounter against Hamburger SV on August 10 (8:30 PM). At home, Hertha will face SSV Jahn Regensburg on August 24 (1:00 PM), and a week later, they will travel to 1. FC Kaiserslautern (8:30 PM). The games against Fortuna Düsseldorf (September 15, 2:30 PM), 1. FC Nürnberg (September 21, 1:00 PM), and SV Elversberg (September 29, 2:30 PM) will then take place.

  1. At the Training camp in Walchsee, Austria, young player Boris Lum from Hertha BSC Berlin will get the opportunity to shine under the guidance of trainer Christian Feil.
  2. Hertha BSC, currently in the Football-Second League, will face NEC Nijmegen, a Dutch first division team, in their first test match during the Training camp in Tyrol.
  3. Despite Fabian Reese's absence due to a knee ligament injury, Hertha BSC Berlin is confident in their chances in the Second Bundesliga, having brought new signings Michael Cuisance, Kevin Sessa, and Diego Demme to the Training camp in Berlin.
  4. Following the training camp, Hertha BSC Berlin will kick off their Second Bundesliga season against SC Paderborn at home on August 3, as per the new DFL schedule.
