Hertha beats Nijmegen 1:0 in the 120-minute test

Hertha plays longer than usual against Dutch top-tier team Nijmegen in the test. Coach Fiedler has to do without Fabian Reese and Kevin Sessa amongst others due to injuries.

Football-Second division team Hertha BSC won a test game against Dutch first division team NEC Nijmegen in the training camp at Walchsee, Austria. In total, the match consisted of four quarters, each lasting 30 minutes, and Hertha secured a 1:0 victory over the Dutch team in the Silver City Arena in Schwaz. Haris Tabaković scored the goal in the 16th minute.

During the half-time break, coach Cristian Fiel made one complete substitution. Hertha managed to maintain their early lead until the final whistle. Fabian Reese and new signing Kevin Sessa were injured and both underwent surgery. Reese was injured due to a foul in a test game against Energie Cottbus (2:2), while Sessa sustained a serious knee injury. Additionally, Pascal Klemens, Luca Schuler, Michaël Cuisance and Jonjoe Kenny were not present.

During the overall nine-day training camp, there are also encounters against English third division team Huddersfield Town (2:30 PM) and second division team Cardiff City (6:00 PM) scheduled for July 25th. A few days after returning, the league season begins against SC Paderborn on August 3rd (1:00 PM).

  5. In an attempt to rebuild their strength and prepare for the upcoming season, Hertha BSC Berlin invited Pascal Klemens, Luca Schuler, Michaël Cuisance and Jonjoe Kenny to join them at their training camp in Austria, but due to various reasons, they could not attend.
  6. The training camp not only provides an opportunity for the players to train and improve their skills but also provides a platform for potential collaborations, as seen with Christian Feil from Austria, who is assisting the senior Hertha BSC coaching staff during the camp.
  7. On July 25th, Hertha BSC Berlin will face English Third Division team Huddersfield Town and Dutch Second Division team Cardiff City, ensuring an exciting week of soccer matches for the team, as they prepare for their upcoming Second Bundesliga season.
  8. The training camp has been instrumental in the team's growth and development, helping them perfect their game strategies and build camaraderie, as they gear up for the new season in the Second Bundesliga.
