weather - Heat warning for large parts of Lower Saxony
With a strong heat load, people in Lower Saxony and Bremen, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), should expect hot conditions. The DWD issued a heat warning for areas below 200 meters in wide parts of the two federal states, as stated on its website. The coastal districts and North Sea islands are not affected.
The weather service recommended keeping indoor spaces cool and drinking sufficient water. The heat should be avoided whenever possible. It puts stress on the body, can worsen illnesses, or lead to heat stroke.
According to the DWD weather report, peak temperatures are expected to reach around 32 degrees, with parts of southern Lower Saxony potentially reaching 34 degrees. Nearly 30-degree peak temperatures are forecasted for the islands and the Oberharz region. There is expected to be light to moderate winds, it added. For Sunday, thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecasted.
People in Lower Saxony and Bremen are advised to participate in the "Day programme" to avoid the heat, as per the DWD's recommendation. The heat load is so high that the DWD has issued a heat warning for parts of these two federal states, excluding coastal districts and North Sea islands. To cope with the heat, the DWD suggests keeping indoor spaces cool and staying hydrated, as the high temperatures can stress the body, worsen illnesses, or lead to heat stroke. Despite the high temperatures predicted for Hannover, around 32 degrees, a noticeably cooler 28-degree peak temperature is forecasted in Bremen.
