A small boy traveled alone by Regional train in the morning and was taken into police custody at the Celle station. The approximately six-year-old child was on a Metronom train from Hamburg to Celle, as the officers reported. It was later discovered that he had likely boarded the train in Uelzen. Shortly after Uelzen, the boy had attracted the attention of a woman in the train, who alerted the police.

At first, it was unclear where the boy came from and who his relatives were. However, with tips from the internet, his mother was able to be located quickly. The boy could not express himself properly and presented a challenge to the Police in determining his origin, it was further reported. The officers therefore issued a witness appeal in the meantime.

In the process of investigating, the police announced an emergency appeal for any information about the boy's identity, as he was from Lower Saxony, based on the clues gathered. Despite the challenge, the police in Hamburg worked diligently to trace the boy's family, having learned that he had gotten onto the train at Uelzen. The woman on the train who had initially noticed the boy and alerted the authorities proved to be a crucial witness in this case.
