New Attraction - Harzturm goes to first weekend after complete opening

The Harzturm stands before its first weekend after complete opening. Since this week, visitors have been able to use all areas of the 65 meter high attraction in Oberharz, as the managing company announced. For guests, this means new opportunities.

Among other things, visitors can now use the experience slide Rasantia with light and sound effects. The lift for the partially barrier-free use of the tower is also completed. The opening of "a new chapter in the tourism history of Torfhaus and the entire Harz region" was announced by the operators. Torfhaus is the highest settlement in Oberharz, with the Brocken in sight.

The completion of the tower was delayed several times. According to the operators, the reasons were the Corona pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the energy crisis. Originally, the tower was supposed to be completed in the spring of 2022. In the end, it was officially inaugurated by Lower Saxony's Minister President Stephan Weil (SPD) on 1. November. The tower was supposed to attract thousands of visitors annually, it was said at the time.

In reality, the tower located on a federal road could not be visited by the public after that. Visitors could only visit the highest German observation tower in wood-steel construction as part of guided tours. More than 12,000 guests used this offer, said Harzturm business manager Hannes Mairinger.

The approximately 10 million Euro construction project, which was funded by the state and the federal government with approximately 1.4 million Euros, offers besides two observation platforms a "Skywalk" with a glass floor in 45 meters height. The ascent is possible on foot via stairs and to the first platform with an elevator. Going down, among other things, is possible via the 110 meter long slide. A restaurant and a souvenir shop are also located in the building.

  1. After the official inauguration by Lower Saxony's Minister President Stephan Weil, visitors from Saxony-Anhalt and beyond have been eagerly anticipating their weekend trips to the Harzturm in Lower Saxony's Oberharz, as the Peat House attraction finally opened its doors to the public.
  2. The Tourism industry in Torfhaus and the entire Harz region has been greatly enhanced with the completion of the Harzturm, now offering an attraction that attracts leisure seekers, including families looking for a fun-filled weekend getaway to the Harz Mountains.
  3. While admiring the breathtaking views from the highest observation platforms, visitors to the Peat House's Harzturm can enjoy aunique experience moving quickly down the 110-meter-long attraction slide, providing an exciting addition to their weekend leisure activities.
  4.
