Hamburg: School operations restart after threat situation
The day after the threat situation at a district school in Hamburg-Blankenese, school operations resumed on Thursday morning. "School operations will start again from 10.00 a.m.," said a spokesperson for the school authorities in Hamburg when asked.
The children and young people would also be supervised and advised by the crisis intervention team and school psychologists from the Regional Education and Counselling Center. "In this respect, this will certainly not be a "completely normal" day of lessons, but will be shaped by yesterday's events," the spokesperson continued.
On Wednesday afternoon, two boys threatened a teacher in a classroom with a type of firearm and triggered a large-scale police operation. The all-clear was only given after four hours. At almost the same time, there was another alarm at another school in the Bahrenfeld district due to a threat. Here, too, a teacher was threatened.
The police were able to arrest four boys aged between 12 and 14 a short time later and seize two suspected toy weapons. Two of the boys could reportedly also be responsible for the threat in Blankenese.
- The police were called to deal with an emergency at the Bahrenfeld school due to a threat, similar to the incident in Blankenese district.
- In response to the crime committed with suspected toy weapons, the local authorities are intensifying security measures at schools in the Blankenese district.
- Emergency protocols involving crisis intervention teams and school psychologists were activated following the threat situation in both schools to ensure the well-being of the students.
- The police are urging parents and students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or threats to the authorities to maintain a safe learning environment in all schools across Hamburg.
