With a speed of 100 through residential area - Hamburg Police confiscated a moped

The Police seized a car in Lübeck after its 25-year-old driver raced through the neighborhoods of Buntekuh and St. Lorenz at over 100 kilometers per hour. The vehicle was noticed by a patrol car's crew late in the evening, according to the Police. The car had approached them with significantly excessive speed. The 25-year-old driver had overtaken another car during his reckless driving. The Police were able to stop the man only after some time had passed.

A test for alcohol or drug consumption was negative, the Police reported. The driver is being investigated for suspected illegal vehicle racing. At the order of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Lübeck, the vehicle was towed away on the spot. It will now be inspected for possible unauthorized technical modifications.

Press release of the Police

The driver, a resident of Schleswig-Holstein, admitted to being a member of a local street racing group known as the Lübeckers. This criminal activity has been a growing concern in the traffic of Lübeck. Despite the automatic speed limit signs in the residential area, the man continued to disregard traffic rules. The 100 kilometers per hour speed limit was clearly indicated, yet he failed to adhere to it.
