Football-Bundesliga - Gunter re-elected as captain of SC Freiburg

Christian Günter will lead SC Freiburg as captain on the football pitch in the upcoming season. The team chose the 31-year-old left back in a secret ballot, as the Breisgauers announced from their training camp in Schruns. Besides Günter, Vincenzo Grifo, Maximilian Eggestein, Michael Gregoritsch (who is not present in Austria), and Nicolas Höfler were elected to the team council.

"The captaincy election is still something special, as certain things shift within the team and new players join every year. I am always happy when the boys choose me," said Günter, who has worn the armband since summer 2020.

Christian Günter, as the newly elected captain, will represent SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, continuing his leadership role started in summer 2020. The team's preparations for the upcoming season are underway at their training camp in the picturesque Austrian town of Schruns. Günter's leadership skills have also earned him a place in the team council, joining fellow players Vincenzo Grifo, Maximilian Eggestein, and Nicolas Höfler. Despite some team members being absent, such as Michael Gregoritsch who is not present in Austria, Freiburg SC looks forward to a promising future in the Football-Bundesliga.
