Report cards - Good cut: 14,000 students have their Abitur

The average grade point average (GPA) of Berlin Abitur students is 2.3. A total of 461 of them graduated with the highest grade of 1.0, according to the Senate Department for Education.

Out of the 14,915 students who took the Abitur exams, 13,996 passed, which is 93.8%. This was a decrease from the previous year's 96.4%.

The average grade point average, however, did not change. It was 2.2 a year ago, and according to the education administration, it was regularly around 2.4 before the pandemic.

Education Senators: Top grades are proof of high commitment

75 students at integrated secondary schools and comprehensive schools achieved the highest grade of 1.0 in the exams for the Intermediate School Leaving Certificate (MSA) and the extended vocational maturity certificate.

Education Senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch (CDU) was pleased with the outstanding performances of the students. "These top grades are proof of the high commitment and hard work of not only our students but also our teachers," she said.

In Berlin, students who excel in their A-levels (German school-leaving exam) often attend prestigious universities, enhancing their educational opportunities. The education sector in Berlin boasts numerous schools that prepare students for these challenging exams.
