emergency during an adventure - German missing after Canyoning in Austria

A man from Baden-Württemberg is missing after a Canyoning tour in Austria. The 40-year-old was part of a group of five, who were on their way through the Sulzltal in Tirol on a Wednesday. According to the police, the participant had abseiled at a 25 meter high point and was carried away by the current in the pool below. "The man was drifting downstream with his head leading, motionless," said a police spokesperson. The search by helicopter ambulance and drone was unsuccessful and had to be abandoned due to setting darkness. The multi-stage Sulzlbach-Tour is considered challenging by authorities with currently some dangerous sections.

The remaining members of the Canyoning group were rescued with a rope winch from the gorge after they had activated an alarm. The search for the missing person has been resumed today.

Despite the challenging nature of the Multi-stage Sulzlbach-Tour in Tyrol, the group had decided to embark on it. The incident took place in Austria, specifically in the Sulzltal region of Tirol. Due to the emergency, Germany's authorities were notified and decided to assist in the search. Unfortunately, the operation had to be halted in Reutte, Austria, as night fell and visibility decreased.
