Football-Bundesliga - Freiburger Ginter training with the team for the first time
Three and a half months after undergoing an Achilles tendon operation, defender Matthias Ginter trained with SC Freiburg's team for the first time. However, in the training camp in Austria, Schruns, he only participated in parts of the training program, and was not present during the match simulations.
"He is being gradually reintegrated into team training, today there was a small passing drill which was a nice treat at the end of the training camp," said new SC trainer Julian Schuster. "This will be gradually increased, depending on how he copes with it."
Due to persistent issues with his Achilles tendon, the 30-year-old Ginter underwent surgery in the first week of April. Schuster could not yet say when he would be match fit.
The Freiburg training camp in Schruns ends on Friday with a test match (2:00 PM) against 2. Liga side SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
