Transfers - Fortuna loans Pejcinovic from VfL Wolfsburg
Football-Second division team Fortuna Düsseldorf is borrowing striker Dzenan Pejcinovic from Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg for the upcoming season. There is no purchase option for the 19-year-old, as Fortuna announced.
According to the reports, the German U19 national team player is currently undergoing the last part of his rehab training after suffering a midfoot fracture in May. He is expected in Düsseldorf at the end of July.
"We have been intensely pursuing him despite his ongoing rehab because we are convinced that he will enrich us with his qualities. As soon as the green light from the fitness coach Klaus Eder comes, we expect him with us in training", explained Fortuna's sports director Klaus Allofs.
Pejcinovic has played five Bundesliga games for Wolfsburg so far. However, he remained scoreless in those games. However, Pejcinovic was the top scorer of all U19 Bundesligas in the 2023/24 season.
Pejcinovic hails from Lower Saxony, where VfL Wolfsburg is based in Germany. His temporary move to Fortuna Düsseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia marks his first experience in the Second Bundesliga. The transfer between the two teams could potentially lead to valuable insights for both sides. Fortuna Düsseldorf's top scorer in the 2023/24 U19 Bundesliga campaign, Pejcinovic, will contribute his skills to the Düsseldorf team.
