Bank Supervisor - Former Postbank chief executive passes away

Frank Strauß, the ex-CEO of Postbank, has passed away. The news was shared by Deutsche Bank who mentioned that Strauß succumbed "suddenly and unexpectedly" at the age of 54. Strauß had managed Postbank for six years before it merged with Deutsche Bank's private customer business and subsequently remained on the Management Board of Germany's largest financial company for two years. A spokesperson for Strauß's family, Matthias Prinz, stated that the passed-away manager had simply fallen asleep. Left behind are his wife and two children.

Throughout most of his career, Frank Strauß spent his time with the Deutsche Bank Group. Starting as a trainee banker in Iserlohn, he moved to Frankfurt in 1995 to take on several leadership roles at Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Bank 24. In 2006, he took the reins of Deutsche Bank's Home Market's Private and Business Clients division.

Strauß moved to Postbank in 2011 as the Chief Sales Officer and, in 2012, was named the Chairman of Postbank's Management Board. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the Deutsche Bank Group's Management Board and directed the Private and Corporate Clients Bank, first alongside Christian Sewing and eventually on his own from April 2018.

Christian Sewing, the current CEO of Deutsche Bank, expressed his shock and grief over the sudden demise of former colleague Frank Strauß in a statement: "As many others at Deutsche Bank, I am stunned and greatly saddened by the untimely death of Frank Strauss. Over more than 30 years at Deutsche Bank and Postbank, he made a major contribution, especially in our private customer business".
