Weather - Flood warnings in Saxony-Anhalt and Bavaria

Following the thaw and the persistent rainfall of the past few days, the water levels of several rivers in Saxony-Anhalt have risen significantly.

On the Dumme near Tylsen and the Ohre near Wolmirstedt, alert level two of four was reached, according to the Saxony-Anhalt State Office for Flood Protection and Water Management. From alert level three, the first flooding of individual properties, streets or cellars is possible.

According to the flood forecasting center, the water levels are expected to continue to rise in the coming days due to the predicted further rainfall. At water levels of the Weiße Elster, the Wipper and the Warme Bode, the reporting limits were reached as the lowest level of flood exceedance.

Flood situation also in Bavaria

The flood situation also continues in Bavaria. Levels are expected to rise again in the coming days, especially on the Danube and south of the Danube, according to a spokesman for the flood information service this morning. In the Alps and especially in the Allgäu region, the German Weather Service (DWD) continues to warn of heavy thaws in some areas.

Bavaria is currently divided into two parts with regard to the flood situation, explained the HND spokesman. North of the Danube, less rain is expected over the next few days. "The flood waves can run off there." South of the Danube, on the other hand, the rainfall is expected to be heavier. Some water levels are then expected to rise again due to the thaw, some of which could reach reporting level 3. In some cases, it may also be necessary to use the water or dam weirs.
