Season-Preparation - First training with Kompany - 'He sprays with energy'

On this day, Vincent Kompany has been waiting at FC Bayern for weeks. The 38-year-old will lead (3:15 PM) his first training session at the German football record champions. "I'm looking forward to him with great eagerness. He's full of energy. He can't wait to be on the pitch with the boys," said Sport Director Christoph Freund.

The Munich team signed the Belgian as Thomas Tuchel's successor at the end of May. The Bayern had to pay over ten million euros in transfer fees to Premier League relegated Burnley. Kompany has signed a contract until 2027. Three years - that's how long Pep Guardiola coached at FC Bayern previously.

Finally, business at Säbener Straße is underway

"He's excited that it's finally starting - just like all of us," said Freund. The new trainer has already been at the club grounds in the past few days and has met many people. "You can really sense the great excitement," said Freund. Finally, business is underway at Säbener Straße. The first public training session is on Saturday.

On Monday and Tuesday, there were examinations and performance diagnostics for Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka & Co. Now the stars can look forward to the first session on the grass with new signing Hiroki Ito. "I've already spoken briefly with the trainer about what I can contribute to make us successful," said defender Ito.

First game at Tegernsee

Due to the holidays of the EM participants, Kompany initially only has a small squad at his disposal. After the initial days in Munich, the team will travel from July 22-24 to a three-day training camp at Tegernsee, where a first test match against FC Rottach-Egern is scheduled at the end.

On July 28, there will be a friendly match against 1. FC Düren, and from July 31 to August 5, the team will travel to South Korea. The Bayern's competitive debut is on August 16 in the DFB-Pokal away against SSV Ulm.
