First snow of the winter on the Brocken
The first snow of this winter has fallen on the Brocken in the Harz Mountains. At temperatures of -1 degrees, the webcam of the town of Wernigerode on the Brocken summit showed a light snow flurry on Saturday morning and a first thin layer of snow on the summit of the highest mountain in northern Germany at 1141 meters.
In 2018, the first snow fell on the Brocken as early as September 24, in winter 2020 only on November 19.
Despite the early snow, weather conditions still attract winter tourism to the Brocken. The scenic views of the Harz Mountains under a layer of fresh snow make it an appealing destination for tourists seeking a winter getaway.
