Emergencies - Fire in Palatinate hospital - two dead found
Two dead bodies were found on Monday evening while extinguishing a fire in the city clinic in Frankenthal, Palatinate. This was announced by the Rheinpfalz police headquarters. According to the current state of the investigation, three people were also seriously injured and other people were injured, including clinic staff. The fire has now been extinguished.
The fire on the second floor was reported at around 8.25 p.m., it said. According to initial findings, two of the clinic's wards were affected. The police added that it was not yet possible to say how much damage was caused. The rest of the clinic's operations were not affected by the fire.
The criminal investigation department has begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the cause of death. The Ludwigshafen criminal investigation department will accept any information. The exact number of casualties and the nature of the injuries have not yet been determined, according to the police.
The fire department and police were on the scene with a large contingent, and the area around the city clinic was cordoned off, it was reported late in the evening. "The measures are still ongoing."
