Brand - Fire in Herb Factory: Likely cause was technical defect
Approximately three days after the fire in a herb factory in Herxheim (District of Southern Palatinate), investigators are reporting a technical defect as the cause. According to a preliminary investigation result, the automatic drying machine for kitchen herbs in a workshop was affected, as stated by the criminal police and prosecutor's office. The fire on Monday, according to police estimates, caused damages in the lower seven-figure range.
No one was injured in the Herxheim-Hayna fire. However, the fire department reported that the drying machine burned completely out. The firefighters were reportedly on site for over three hours to extinguish the fire.
The fire in the herb factory on Wine Street in Herxheim, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, was estimated to cause million-dollar damage. The defective automatic drying machine, believed to be the source of the fire, was located in a workshop within the factory. The fire department's efforts to contain the blaze in Herxheim-Hayna lasted for over three hours.
