Criminality - Fight at the bus station: Two men with knives injured

At a bus station in Bonn, a 24-year-old man is suspected of seriously injuring a 41-year-old man with a knife. The 41-year-old is reportedly in intensive care treatment, according to police and prosecutors. His 40-year-old acquaintance was lightly injured.

According to initial findings, a dispute between the two men escalated in the afternoon, causing the 24-year-old to pull out a knife, as a spokesperson stated. The incident is being classified as an attempted murder, and a murder commission has taken over the investigation.

After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled through the city with the bloody knife. He was later apprehended by police officers near the station in a pedestrian zone. He is currently in custody.

Preliminary investigations by the detectives suggest that the 24-year-old had previously argued with the 41-year-old on a tram. Both were expelled from the tram and continued to argue, leading to the later altercation at the bus station. The reason for the dispute was not mentioned by the police. Several media outlets had reported on the incident earlier.

The access to the station has been closed for evidence collection. However, bus traffic is running again, according to the police spokesperson in the evening.

The suspect's arrest was made by police officers in North Rhine-Westphalia's capital, Bonn, in a pedestrian zone nearby the Bus Station. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Germany will be handling the case due to the classified nature of the incident as criminality. Witnesses claimed that the two men involved in the dispute were acquaintances.
