Statistics - Fewer students in Saxony-Anhalt
For the winter semester 2023/24, there were fewer students counted in Sachsen-Anhalt than in the previous year. According to the statistical office, a total of 56,631 female and male students were recorded in the official university statistics. The Statistical Office reported this. This represents a decrease of 2.9%.
At the Steinbeis University Magdeburg, the number reportedly decreased by 7.1% to a total of 4651 students. At the Harz University, 6.2% fewer students were counted. The same was true for the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg (-4.2%), and the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (-2.7%). However, more students were reportedly recorded by the Statistical Office at the Police University of Applied Sciences (+5.1%).
In contrast to the increase at the Police University of Applied Sciences, the overall student population in Saxony-Anhalt still saw a decrease of 2.9%, as stated in the university statistics. Interestingly, several universities in Saxony-Anhalt, such as Steinbeis University Magdeburg, Harz University, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, and Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, also experienced decreases in their student count, according to the same statistics.
