Thuringia - Few weeks before the election: New AFD man in the state parliament

Less than seven weeks before the Thuringia State Elections, a new representative joins the AfD in the parliament: The 41-year-old Stefan Schröder takes over as successor for the previous AfD parliamentarian René Aust, who is switching to the European Parliament. According to the Thuringia Landtag, Schröder took the mandate. The new parliamentarian comes from within the AfD, he most recently worked as a bureau chief for the AfD Bundestag parliamentarian Bernd Schattner.

Schröder will receive financial benefits like any other parliamentarian for the remaining weeks. However, he is unlikely to participate in a Landtag session again. According to the Landtag, there is no scheduled session before the election on September 1st. Schröder will not have claims for transition benefits or pension after just a few weeks. Transition benefits are only available after at least one year as a parliamentarian. For a pension, at least six years in the Landtag are required.

Stefan Schröder, a new addition to the AfD in Thuringia's State Parliament, will be replaced by Rene Aust in the European Parliament. The state election in Thuringia is scheduled for September 1st, and there are currently no planned sessions for the State Parliament before that date. René Aust, who is leaving the State Parliament for the European Parliament, previously handed over his mandate to Stefan Schröder within the AfD.
