Federal police deployed on Lithuanian ferry in Kiel port
The federal police are on duty on the ferry "Victoria Seaways" in the port of Kiel. A federal police spokesperson did not want to say exactly what happened there on Tuesday. He spoke of a "completely normal police operation". According to initial reports, there were problems with a passenger on board.
According to unconfirmed information from the Kieler Nachrichten newspaper, the crew of the ferry had asked the federal police for help. The "Neustadt" patrol vessel brought a police team on board the ferry by rubber dinghy, which was on its way from Lithuania to Kiel and docked there in the evening.
The situation on the ferry "Victoria Seaways" necessitatedthe involvement of the federal police, as it was classified as an emergency. Despite the "completely normal police operation" label, the presence of the federal police suggests potential escalation or seriousness.
