- FC Nürnberg has signed Ondrej Karafiat permanently for the upcoming season. The Franconian Football-Second League team announced in its training camp in Walchsee, Tyrol, that the Czech defensive player is now a fixed member of the licensed team. The 29-year-old, who most recently played under contract at Mlada Boleslav in his homeland, has been training with the team of trainer Miroslav Klose for more than a week.
2. Bundesliga - FC Nürnberg signs Karafiat - Gürleyen for Rostock
"It was important for us not only on the field but also off the field to make a good impression of Ondrej. He took responsibility from the start and fits well into the structure of our squad. We are happy to have received a player who leads the way in professionalism in all areas," said Sport Director Joti Chatzialexiou about the experienced Karafiat, who had also been under contract at Sparta and Slavia Prague in the past.
On the other hand, defender Ahmet Gürleyen (25) leaves Nürnberg after only one season and joins the Second League relegated FC Hansa Rostock with immediate effect. Gürleyen joined Nürnberg in the summer of 2023 but only played in 15 matches last season.
In the Football-Bundesliga, Miroslav Klose's 1. FC Nürnberg is strengthening its defense with transfers. Ondrej Karafiat, a former player of Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, has joined the team. Karafiat, who has also played for Sparta and Slavia Prague in Bavaria, will contribute to 1. FC Nürnberg in both on-field and off-field aspects, as expressed by Sport Director Joti Chatzialexiou. Meanwhile, Ahmet Gürleyen, a defender who previously joined Nürnberg from Second League relegated FC Hansa Rostock in 2023, is transferring back to his former team following his single-season stint at the Franconian club.
The move to Borussia Monchengladbach's Xaver Müller and young defender Lukas Slandovsky from Bavarian club Wacker Burghausen in the Second Bundesliga garnered considerable attention. However, the signings of Karafiat and others like him, who showcase professionalism, will play a significant role in Nürnberg's potential success in the upcoming Football-Second League season.
