Defender Jan Gyamerah, on the other hand, is leaving the Nürnbergers and joining 1. FC Kaiserslautern within the 2. Bundesliga. The club announced this "with immediate effect," just a few hours before the test game against Juventus Turin. Gyamerah played for the Nürnbergers in the 2. Liga since summer 2022.

Serra, in turn, brings a lot of experience to the attack. For VfL Bochum, Holstein Kiel, and Arminia Bielefeld, he played 122 games in the second league and scored 37 goals. With Arminia, the 1.93-meter-tall striker also played a season in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals. At Aarhus, the former U21-national striker spent the previous season.

Physique and presence: Serra's advantages

"Janni is in the best footballing age and desperately wanted to come back to Germany. That's why we immediately pursued the player," explained Nürnberg's sports director Joti Chatzialexiou. "He brings good physique, is present in the box, and has already proven himself in the 2. Bundesliga."

Gyamerah played in the youth team for VfL Bochum. He made his professional debut there as well. After a stint at Hamburger SV, he came to Franconia. For FCN, Gyamerah played 59 second-tier games, in which he scored three goals and gave three assists.

In the FCN press release on the transfer, no comment was made by a responsible party. However, the Lauterners spoke out. "We were able to sign a proven 2. Bundesliga player in Jan Gyamerah, who is also willing to take on responsibility on and off the pitch," explained commercial manager Thomas Hengen.

The Kaiserslauterners made no statements regarding the transfer fee and contract length. "I have only played for traditional clubs until now, which was a deciding factor in my decision to join FCK," Gyamerah stated in his new club's press release.
