Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Fast 500 violations of National Park rules handled
In the three National Parks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, nearly 500 infringements of the rules were dealt with in the past year. Mostly, it was about drivers parking their cars spontaneously by the roadside, as reported by NDR.
In National Park Müritz alone, there were reportedly 243 such infringement notices among a total of 274 registered infringements. In the National Parks Jasmund and Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft, NDR's research revealed 194 and 219 infringements against the park rules, respectively, in the past year.
National Park Rangers found mopeds and quad bikes particularly annoying in the eyes of the Müritz National Park, as they disturbed the animals with noise and exhaust fumes and often damaged the forest paths. Eight such cases were known to NDR last year. Those caught grilling or at a campfire faced a fine of up to 10,000 Euro. Four such incidents occurred in National Park Müritz last year.
The National Park Müritz, located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is known for its strict enforcement of nature protection rules, as evidenced by the 243 infringement notices issued last year. Schwerin, being a part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, also has a National Park where infractions were reported to NDR. In fact, NDR broadcasted a story about a moped and quad bike disturbance in the Müritz National Park, highlighting the eight instances where such vehicles were found to be causing harm to the wildlife and the environment.
