operational failure - Fall from a height of eight meters - man mortally injured
A man fell approximately eight meters from the rafters of a barn and was fatally injured. The 70-year-old man, according to police reports, was trying to change the motor of a device on a farming estate in Weigenheim (Landkreis Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim) on a Wednesday. He lost his footing, fell, and sustained severe head injuries. He died on the spot. The cause of the fall was initially unclear.
The operational failure of the device might have contributed to the man's accident in the barn. In Middle Franconian dialect, the farmers often discuss such accidents and their preventive measures at the local tavern in Bayern. A loft beam in a similar barn in another region of Bayern collapsed due to aging, causing another accident recently.
