In Saxony, election posters can be hung up again - and the police report the first damages and insults towards helpers once more. In Leipzig, according to the police, posters were torn down at several locations during the night before Saturday. In the Meusdorf district, a perpetrator is said to have approached the poster hangers. He threatened and insulted them with a sharp object and then fled. On Eisenbahnstraße, a 64-year-old man threatened two poster hangers with a kitchen knife and allegedly insulted them as well, according to the police. An investigation is being carried out against the man.

In Chemnitz, a witness observed two 40-year-olds tearing down and damaging posters during the night. Additionally, a 14-year-old was stopped for allegedly setting fire to a poster.

The state parliament election is currently taking place on September 1st. Before the communal and European election in the spring, a brutal attack on SPD politician Matthias Ecke in Dresden caused a stir. He was beaten up by several young men at night and sustained injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment.

  1. The damaged election posters in Saxony are not just limited to Leipzig; similar incidents have been reported in the Meusdorf district as well.
  2. Despite the ongoing state election campaign, instances of criminality, such as the aggression towards poster hangers, continue to surface.
  3. In the European election conducted earlier this year, an incident of significant aggression occurred, with SPD politician Matthias Ecke being severely assaulted in Dresden.
  4. To prevent such instances of violence and aggression during the election campaign, authorities should intensify their efforts to maintain law and order.
  5. The disruption of election posters in Chemnitz is not an isolated incident; during the night before Saturday, two individuals were caught tearing down and damaging posters, and a 14-year-old was allegedly involved in setting fire to one.
