Criminality - Einsatz at Ostbahnhof: Shot man was armed

A man shot by a German Federal Police officer at Berlin's Ostbahnhof was reportedly armed, according to police statements. The man had threatened a Federal Police officer with a "dangerous object" on a Monday evening, a Federal Police spokesperson said. He was initially reported to have been injured in the thigh.

The shot was fired around 17:45 hours in the station hall, near the Federal Police headquarters. The injured man was taken to a hospital. The Berlin Police have taken over the investigation. The "B.Z." (online) had reported on this earlier.

The incident at the Eastern Railway Station's Ostbahnhof in Berlin, involving criminal activity and a threat with a dangerous object, led to an emergency situation requiring police intervention. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had a history of criminality.
