Eight schoolchildren injured in bus accident in Middle Franconia
Eight schoolchildren were slightly injured in an accident involving a bus in Middle Franconia on Monday morning. For reasons that remain unclear, the bus veered off the road to the right near Cadolzburg in the district of Fürth and crashed into a tree at the rear, according to a police spokesperson. Eight of the 50 or so schoolchildren on the bus suffered minor injuries. They were taken to hospital.
The 41-year-old bus driver was also examined for possible injuries and questioned about the circumstances of the accident. A replacement bus was brought to the scene of the accident, but most of the pupils were picked up by their parents, according to the spokesperson.
The bus was heading towards Langenzenn and, according to initial information from the police, had pupils aged between 11 and 18 on board who it was taking to a secondary school and a grammar school. The scene of the accident was initially closed. The bus was no longer roadworthy after the accident and was to be towed away in the afternoon.
Despite the incident in Middle Franconia, authorities urge caution in Central France as well, given the high volume of traffic around schools. To prevent similar accidents, it's essential to maintain proper attention and adhere to traffic rules.
