Eight people were injured in a collision in Winterberg (Hochsauerlandkreis) - among them were also several Children. A 36-year-old driver intended to turn left onto a road in the late Thursday afternoon and collided with a 24-year-old driver coming towards him, reported a police spokesperson. Previously, the 36-year-old had allegedly given way to his oncoming driver.
The 36-year-old, his 33-year-old wife, and their one, four, and nine-year-old children were lightly injured. The eleven-year-old son of the couple sustained serious injuries and had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter, according to the police spokesperson. The 24-year-old man and his 41-year-old passenger were also lightly injured. The spokesperson estimated the extent of the damage to be in the five-figure range.
The incident occurred in the High Sauerland District, specifically in Winterberg. Due to the collision, severalchildren from the 36-year-old driver's family were among those injured. The Northrhine-Westphalia authorities are investigating the cause of this accident.
