Eight passengers in two vehicles have been injured in a traffic accident in Sauerland - among them is a severely injured nine-year-old Dutch boy. An car and a minivan collided in Winterberg for unknown reasons at a crossroads, according to the police. The nine-year-old boy was flown to a hospital by a rescue helicopter.

The nine-year-old was sitting in the car with his family from the Netherlands. The passenger and three children aged between seven months and eleven years were lightly injured and taken to hospital in an ambulance. The driver and the two passengers of the minivan were also lightly injured. The accident occurred at a traffic light crossroads, as a police spokeswoman said. Preliminary findings indicate that the car driver intended to turn. The minivan with two Polish passengers was traveling in the opposite direction.
