District of Verden - Driver without a driver's license with 0.044% stopped

The police stopped a driver with a 4.4 promille alcohol level in the Landkreis of Verden. The 54-year-old does not have a driver's license, according to the police. The man had attracted the attention of other traffic participants with his uncertain and dangerous driving behavior. During control at Intschede on a Saturday afternoon, the officers detected an alcohol odor. An alcohol breath test yielded the high value. A blood sample was taken from the 54-year-old and further driving was prohibited. He must now answer for himself in two legal proceedings, the police added. According to the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung, an alcohol level above three promille can be life-threatening to deadly.

  1. Due to the lack of a driver's license, the police in Lower Saxony's Verden District decided to press charged against the man for driving under the influence, given the emergency situation and potential criminality on the roads.
  2. In light of the high alcohol level and the subsequent traffic violation, the police contacted the District's offices to report the incident and add this case to the man's criminal record.
  3. If convicted, the 54-year-old could face strict penalties, including losing his driving privileges for an extended period, and might even require an emergency intervention program for alcohol abuse.
